Why I Finally Released Unveiled Truths to the Public
There are some stories you live.
And there are some stories you protect.
For many years, Unveiled Truths was both.
It was never written to sell. It was never written for recognition. It was written because history deserved to be accurate — and because one man refused to accept that a wrong could remain uncorrected simply because time had passed.
That man was my husband, Dr. Howard Edward Haller.
What began as a question became a mission. What became a mission became years of research, letters, meetings, and persistence. And eventually, that persistence helped restore Jefferson Davis’ citizenship through Public Law 95-466.
But when the work was finished, and the law was signed, and history quietly corrected itself, the manuscript remained private.
Not hidden.
Just protected.
Because it wasn’t just history.
It was personal.
It was the record of sacrifice. Of courage. Of determination that very few people ever see. It contained letters from the White House. Conversations with U.S. Senators. Official documents. And the quiet, steady resolve of one man who believed truth still mattered.
For years, only a few people ever saw it.
Family.
Close friends.
Those who understood what it meant.
But time has a way of clarifying purpose.
And eventually, I realized something important.
This story was never meant to be kept.
It was meant to be shared.
Not for recognition.
Not for praise.
But because it stands as proof that one person — without political office, without special privilege — can help shape the course of American history through persistence, principle, and faith.
Howard did not set out to become part of history.
He simply refused to walk away from it.
Releasing Unveiled Truths now is not about reopening the past.
It is about preserving it.
It is about making sure that future generations understand that laws are written by people — and sometimes corrected by them, too.
It is about honoring the work, the sacrifice, and the quiet courage that made it possible.
If you would like to read the full story in Dr. Haller’s own words, Unveiled Truths — Restoring Jefferson Davis’ Citizenship is now available as a complete illustrated digital book.
